You don’t need to be in Lagos or Abuja to be famous – Patience Ozokwor

Actress Patience Ozokwor, a veteran, has disproved the notion that one can only become renowned if they live in Lagos or Abuja.

Patience Ozokwor made these remarks during the candle procession night in memory of Madam Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the late CEO and Founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

The veteran claims that the majority of her coworkers in the film business began their careers in Enugu State before forgetting where they came from after they became famous.

Patience highlighted that if a person has skill, their location should not matter because, in her opinion, talent does not move people from where they are, but rather sells them out.

She said;

However, I stated that I would remain in Enugu and travel to Lagos while claiming to be a local woman.

I reside in Ngwo in Enugu State’s Udi Local Government Area, and God has shown me that anyone may achieve fame from wherever.

If you are good enough, they will call you even from America; you don’t even have to be in Lagos or Abuja.

Patience Ozokwor used the Member Federal Republic award and the Centenary Award she won as examples to support her argument. She acknowledged that her selection had more to do with her aptitude than her geographic area.

“You can be chosen from anyplace, and I don’t even know who put my name there. In this sector, that is the claim I wanted to make, therefore I’m glad I can say it now.
