Who Was Daniel Enriquez? Goldman Sachs employee fatally shot on N.Y. subway train
Daniel Enriquez died after being shot on a subway train in New York City on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Ten people were shot and many more were injured on a subway train just a month ago.
Police were called to the Canal Street train station around 11:50 a.m. ET, according to New York Police Chief of Department Kenneth Corey, responding to reports of a person being shot.
Upon arrival, they discovered a male with a gunshot wound to the torso, according to Corey.
The man was sent to Bellevue Hospital and died there.
The individual was later identified as Daniel Enriquez, 48, of Brooklyn, a Goldman Sachs employee.
Witnesses told police that the man was pacing back and forth in a train car before shooting Enriquez at close range without provocation and exiting the train, according to Corey.
David Solomon, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, described the shooting as a “senseless tragedy,” adding that Enriquez had worked for the firm for nine years.
