‘We are unlucky’: Julen Lopetegui left to rue VAR controversy in FA Cup draw at Liverpool
Due to the apparent lack of conclusive video, a VAR ruling that would have awarded Wolves’ manager Julen Lopetegui’s team an FA Cup victory at Liverpool was not made.
Toti thought he had scored the game-winning goal with nine minutes left, but an offside flag ended the visitors’ frenzied celebrations as the score remained 2-2.
The on-field call could not be overturned despite the decision being examined, according to broadcaster ITV, since the camera angle was off.
After reviewing it on a screen in the dugout and making the VAR TV symbol while standing on the touchline, Lopetegui was certain it was a goal at the moment.
“We have no options. The referee and I have spoken. Although he was very quiet, he could hear us, he said.
“It was unfortunate since VAR was used today. He made an attempt to explain, but it wasn’t very obvious. Nevertheless, I’ll demonstrate to him why, in my opinion, the objective is valid as seen by our tactical camera. I’ve watched the replay.
When informed that there wasn’t a good angle on the film, assistant referee Lopetegui remarked, “I didn’t know this. It was unfortunate for us.

We were unlucky with the choice today and unlucky to have so many chances to win the game.
With a Carabao Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday and a game against West Ham for safety, the former Spain coach made nine changes, yet his team still fared better.
He said, “I’m angry and disappointed.”
“The response is somewhat let down since, in a sense, I am really proud of the guys and believe that they deserved much more today.
It was unfortunate that they had numerous chances to score a third goal against a fantastic squad, but I must accept the ruling that it was not offside.
This performance was the latest in a long line of discouraging ones for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
After Alisson Becker’s error allowed Goncalo Guedes to score the first goal, his team surged ahead thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez that were superbly taken, but Becker was unable to stop Hwang Hee-Chan from forcing the equalizer.

He acknowledged that they merely earned a rematch at Molineux.
“We only deserve a draw, nothing more. “I know we still have replays, but I don’t think we should,” he stated.
Wolves are happier than we are, but we’ll be content enough to try.
