The University of Waterloo Scholarship 2022-2023 is a fully funded international student scholarship. This scholarship is available for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies. The scholarship at Waterloo University is worth up to $10,000.
In support of Canadian and international students, the University of Waterloo is presenting the David Johnston–Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards to highly successful candidates.
This is a full-time program open to students from all over the world who want to study in any undergraduate or graduate degree program offered by the Waterloo Faculty.
Based on the Faculty’s award allocation, eligible students will be nominated. Academic excellence as demonstrated by their application for admission to the graduate program will be used to select students.

Scholarship Coverage
The University of Waterloo Scholarships provide the following benefits to the recipient:
• The David Johnston–Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards will range from $2,500 to $5,000 for a one-term study experience, and up to $10,000 for a two-term work or volunteer experience.
• The International Master’s Award of Excellence is worth $2,500 per term for a total of six terms.
University of Waterloo Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for University of Waterloo Scholarships:
• Languages required: English
• Eligible Countries: All Countries in the World
• Candidates with good academic standing (typically a minimum 70% average at the undergraduate level and a minimum 75% average at the graduate level) are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
• Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students from any faculty who want to participate in an international experience in Israel, such as a minimally paid or volunteer international co-op work placement, a volunteer placement, an academic exchange, or a study term related to academic requirements.
• International students with a valid Canadian study permit who are enrolled full-time and are subject to international tuition fees.
• Typically given to students enrolled in research-based programs (thesis or major research paper).
• Normally, only students entering their first term of study will be eligible (term 1.0).
• Students must demonstrate academic excellence using the Faculty’s established criteria.
• Students must meet their program’s academic progress requirements and have no outstanding probationary admission requirements.
• This award may be combined with other internal or external scholarships (e.g., UW Graduate Scholarship, OGS, etc). Please keep in mind that scholarships are not the same as sponsorship – see the next bullet.
• Students should not normally be receiving concurrent foreign government or agency sponsorship (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan sponsorship, etc.) or be fully or partially self-funded in excess of the Faculty’s minimum levels of support.
• Students who have been grandfathered under the existing IMSA program are not eligible to be nominated for an IMAE; however, a student who has previously been awarded an IMSA for a previously completed master’s degree is eligible to be nominated for an IMAE.
• Based on their admissions application, students will be automatically considered for this award. Departments and/or faculties will establish their own internal process for selecting recipients based on eligibility criteria and allocation.
• If necessary, faculties may impose stricter eligibility criteria.
How to Apply for University of Waterloo Scholarships

1. Candidates must be accepted into an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a university. Candidates can access the application on their forms pages after they have been admitted.
2. Applicants must submit a personal statement that includes a reference to the application form. To meet the minimum admission requirements, all applicants must provide evidence of their English language ability.
To apply for the International Master’s Award of Excellence scholarship, please follow the steps below:
1. Because students will be automatically considered for this award based on their admission application, no separate scholarship application is required.
2. Students will be chosen and nominated for the scholarship by departments and/or faculties.
