Travellers kidnapped and injured as suspected herdsmen attack train station in Edo
Numerous passengers waiting to board a train from Warri in Delta State to Igueben station in Edo State have been kidnapped by alleged herdsmen.
According to Chidi Nwabuzor, the public relations officer for the Edo police, who confirmed the story, the attack also harmed a few other travelers.
According to Nwabuzor, the kidnappers assaulted the train station with AK-47 rifles and fired randomly before kidnapping some tourists and making their way into the forest.
The police spokesperson gave Nigerians the reassurance that operations to safely rescue the kidnapped passengers and apprehend the eluding kidnappers had started.
Nwabuzor said;
This is to tell the gentlemen of the press that today, January 7, 2023, at around 1600 hours, an unknown number of herdsmen stormed the train station in Igueben, Edo State, and abducted an unknown number of people who were waiting to board the train to Warri.
“Some others suffered gunshot wounds as a result of the kidnappers’ erratic shooting into the air before abducting some passengers. To safeguard the lives and property of the remaining passengers, the area commander Irrua, DPO Igueben Division, and men have visited the crime scene along with members of the Edo state security network, neighborhood watch members, and hunters.
“Bush-combing operations have started in an effort to free the captives and catch the escaping perpetrators. Additional information will be shared.
