Joe Pignatano Obituary – Joseph Benjamin Pignatano was a professional baseball player and coach in the United States.
Pignatano, a catcher, appeared in 307 games in the Major Leagues with the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers (1957–60), Kansas City Athletics (1961), San Francisco Giants (1962), and New York Mets (1962) over the course of six seasons (1957–62). (1962).
Pignatano was a native of Brooklyn and a longtime resident of New York City’s Brooklyn and Staten Islands.
Pignatano became a coach with the Washington Senators (1965–67), New York Mets (1968–81), and Atlanta Braves (1982–84) after his 15-year professional playing career ended in 1964.
Pignatano worked for Hodges from 1965 through 1971, and with the 1969 “Miracle Mets,” he received his second World Series ring.
Pignatano shares a cousin with two other former Met pitchers, Pete Falcone and John Franco.
Pignatano died at the age of 92 on May 23, 2022.
