Kay Mellor OBE was an actress, screenwriter, and director from England. Kay Daniel was born in Leeds, England, to a Jewish mother and a Catholic father.

Philip and Robert Mellor were Kay’s two brothers. In the early 2010s, Robert passed away. Mellor began his career as a writer in the 1980s, writing for the Granada Television soap opera Coronation Street.

Kay Mellor also penned a number of episodes for the Channel 4 soap Brookside in 1989.

He is known for his roles as Jambo Bolton in Hollyoaks, Gaz Wilkinson in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, DC Spike Tanner in No Offence, Steve Connolly in Broadchurch, Georgie in Barking! and Ollie Curry in White Van Man.

Will Mellor is in no way related to English writer, scriptwriter, and director Kay Mellor though both are of English descent.
