The Coca-Cola 600 (Coke 600) is a 600-mile (970-kilometer) NASCAR Cup Series points race contested every Memorial Day weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
The first race took place in 1960, and it was also the first time the new Charlotte Motor Speedway was used.
The Coke 600 gets underway at 6:20 p.m., and for the opening third of the race, the track is drenched in sunlight.
The second third takes place at dusk, with the last third taking place under the spotlight.
The race is held on the same day as the IndyCar Series’ Indianapolis 500, and some drivers have attempted or completed Double Duty by competing in both races.
The NASCAR race is normally held on the final weekend of May, and it is known as one of the biggest weekends in auto racing because it takes place on the same Sunday as the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. (IndyCar Series).
