On April 21, 2023, the actor posted a picture of his late mother, who was laid to rest on the same day. In an effort to console himself, IK Ogbonna expressed that his mother found peace in her transition.

In anInstagrampost, he wrote,“A Queen and more ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rest well mama 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️Today we lay mama’s body to rest …. But her spirit lives on. I Love you forever and more.”

IK Ogbonna received condolences from well-known individuals such as KCee, Chigul,Whitemoney, Nosa Rex, Maria Chike Benjamin, Omonni Oboli, Toke Makinwa, Linda Osifo, Ozo, Onyii Alex, and his best friend Alex Ekubo.

The actor’s mother passed on earlier this year in January and was laid to rest months later.
