George Perez Health: What Was George Pérez Suffering From?
George Perez had stage 3 pancreatic cancer, which he had been diagnosed with in December of 2021.
He told his fans that his cancer was incurable and that doctors had given him six to twelve months to live. The artist declined to receive treatment.
“I’ve been offered chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, but after weighing all the factors and calculating how much of my remaining days would be consumed by doctor visits, treatments, hospital stays, and dealing with the medical system’s often stressful and frustrating bureaucracy, I’ve decided to just let nature take its course and enjoy whatever time I have left as fully as possible with my family, friends, and fans,” Perez wrote.

Perez announced his retirement in January 2019 owing to health problems.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Perez rose to prominence as a star artist, thanks to his influential run on DC’s New Teen Titans, which led to his involvement in Crisis on Infinite Earths, a generation-defining crossover event that continues to resonate today.
Perez’s influence on comic book films is palpable, with his work influencing films like Avengers: Infinity War and Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, has credited him as an influence on her work.
