Stefanos Tsitsipas was born in Athens, Greece, on August 12, 1998. Both of his parents are tennis players, Apostolos Tsitsipas and Julia Apostoli Salnikova. His mother is Russian and his father is Greek.
Stefanos Tsitsipas grew up with three younger siblings: two brothers, Petros Tsitsipas and Pavlos (Paul) Tsitsipas, and a sister, Elisavet Tsitsipas, the youngest. His siblings are all tennis players as well. Stefanos began playing tennis when he was three years old. He was once the world’s No. 1 junior.
With his victory in the 2016 Wimbledon boys’ doubles tournament, Stefanos Tsitsipas became the third Greek player and the first Greek man in the Open Era to win a junior Grand Slam championship. With his victory in the 2019 ATP Finals, he became the youngest winner of the year-end championships in 18 years.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has eight ATP singles titles to his credit (including two Masters 1000 championships). He was voted the Greek Male Athlete of the Year in 2019 and went on to win the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters, his first Masters 1000 event. After being ranked as high as world No. 3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, he became the highest-ranked Greek player in history.
