Clayton Ruby Obituary
Clayton Ruby, one of Canada’s best and famous civil rights lawyers, passed away on August 2, 2022. He was aged 80.
February 6, 1942, Toronto, Canada, Ruby is survived by Superior Court Justice Harriet Sachs, and two daughters – Kate and Emma Ruby-Sachs.
How Did Clayton Ruby Die?
Ruby died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.
His death was confirmed by his law firm Ruby Shiller Enenajor DiGiuseppe.
“Clay was a dedicated advocate for human rights, a champion of the underdog and a loving friend.
“Our thoughts are with his family and our entire firm mourns the loss of our leader and mentor,” his law partner Stephanie DiGiuseppe, wrote on Twitter.

Clayton Ruby Life And Career
While he was still living, Ruby handled a number of significant cases, including the Michelle Douglas case, which ended long-standing discrimination against LGBTQ2+ people in the military, as well as numerous other issues involving abortion rights.
Ruby studied law at the University of Toronto, and in 1969 she was admitted to the Ontario bar.
He graduated from the University of California (Berkeley) with a law degree, and he has been managing his own legal company for more than 50 years.
