Former weatherman Bruce Schwoegler worked for the Boston-based station for 33 years. Bruce made a name for himself as a respected science and meteorology reporter on television.
Barbara and Bruce Schwoegler were wed for almost 50 years. Melinda Schwoegler, a doctor who is now White, was their daughter.
Dr. Melinda White earned honors degrees in neuroscience from Colgate University and Wayland High School.
She earned her veterinary medicine degree from Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, and in June 2009, she finished her internship there. At the Eagle-Vail Animal Hospital, Melinda is employed.

On Thursday, August 4, Bruce passed away at the age of 80. Mel White, his daughter, revealed on Facebook that her father suffered from aphasia, a language impairment brought on by brain injury that impairs both spoken and written speech.
“Throughout my life, my father has taught me a lot of things, and this has never ceased. He taught me that the only thing we can be sure of is the moment at hand when his memories vanished and the future ceased to exist.
And through his death, he demonstrated to me that dying gracefully, beautifully, and bravely is possible. There is never enough time before something bad happens. White penned.
