Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria scored goals for Argentina in the 23rd and 36th minutes of the first half to give them a 2-0 lead. However, France tied the score in the 80th minute through a Mbappe penalty after substitute Kolo Muani got in behind the defense and was brought down by Nicolas Otamendi, who also extended a knee.
After exchanging passes with Thuram, Mbappe scored a spectacular right-footed volley in the 81st minute.

After Messi had bundled in what appeared to be the game-winning goal in the 109th minute, the France forward scored his third goal in the 118th minute with another penalty kick.
As a result, Kylian Mbappe became only the second player since England’s Geoff Hurst in 1966 to score a hat-trick in a men’s World Cup final.
However, Argentina won the 2022 World Cup 4-2 to win their third World Cup championship.
The Argentine team previously won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986, but in Qatar, they followed up their triumph in the Copa America last year, their first significant trophy since 1993.
