When his family moved to the Gold Coast, Andrew Symonds attended All Souls St Gabriels School and then All Saints Anglican School in Merrimac. He played a key role in two World Cup-winning teams. He batted in the middle order as a right-handed batter.
Andrew Symonds retired from all forms of cricket on February 16, 2012, in order to devote more time to his family. He died in a single-vehicle traffic accident on May 14, 2022, in Hervey Range, Granite Vale, Australia, at the age of 46.
