After Man Utd's defeat against City, Paul Scholes attacks the Manchester United star and criticizes Solskjaer.
Following Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League derby on Saturday, Paul Scholes has slammed Aaron Wan Bissaka.
When he had the ball, Scholes labeled Wan Bissaka as a useless player.
He also chastised Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his tactics against Man City, saying that if the Norwegian wants to keep his job at Old Trafford, he needs to show more commitment.
Man United were defeated at home by Pep Guardiola’s side, with goals from Bernardo Silva and Eric Bailly (owngoal).
Scholes told Premier League Productions, “The conviction of the way you’re going to play football needs to come from the coach.”
“Ole has been here for three years, and we’ve come here today without knowing what he’ll do.”
“Because you’re not buying players for a system, that makes recruitment very hard.” Pep [Guardiola] is an example of someone who will buy players to fit a system. This year, he brought in [Jack] Grealish for his system, and he brought in [Riyad] Mahrez for his system. Diogo Jota joins Jurgen Klopp’s system as another forward. “We’re bringing in guys and shoving them into roles.”
“You can see the proof on the pitch three years later, but we’re still a long way off today and two weeks ago.” I believe we have a good bunch of players, but Ole must persuade everyone that he is the appropriate man for the job of figuring out the best configuration for this squad.
“Stop tinkering with it for the sake of others. He needs to have a conviction now. Whatever it is, I don’t care; all I care about is having that conviction. As I have stated, the 3-5-2 formation does not suit the players on the team. Wan Bissaka is poor on the ball; he’s a fantastic defender, but he’s useless at right-back.
“Today we had three center-halves, none of them were particularly good on the ball. Ole must find a method, and that is, by the way, a job. There’s a group of players there who could do well.”
