Abeokuta witnesses one shooting as demonstrators attempt to loot a bank.

demonstrators attempt to loot a bank – According to reports, a shooting incident took place in Sapon, a neighborhood located in the capital city of Abeokuta in the Ogun State. The situation arose from an attempted robbery at a branch of the First Bank of Nigeria in the area. The incident was said to have started on Tuesday, when some bank customers were spending time at a branch of GTBank in Asero, Abeokuta, and resulted in protests that spread to other parts of the city, such as Sapon, Panseke, Okelewo, among others, disrupting commercial activities.

An anonymous source informed DAILY POST that the bank became a target for some hoodlums who hijacked the protest as an opportunity to rob the First Bank branch. Armed hoodlums attempted to force their way into the bank after setting fire to the canopy in front of the bank and vandalizing properties on the premises. In an effort to prevent the invasion of the bank, armed police officers quickly arrived on the scene and a gunfight ensued between them and the hoodlums. Unfortunately, during the confrontation, a young man was hit by a bullet and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. There has been no update on the young man’s condition as of yet.
