A.B. Yehoshua, Israeli author Cause of Death
On June 14, 2022, Israeli novelist, essayist, and dramatist Abraham B. Yehoshua died. At the time, he was 85 years old. Icilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel, reported his death. The cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
Sivan, Gideon, and Nahum, his three children, survive him.
Yehoshua was a writer, essayist, and dramatist who won Israel’s top cultural honor, the Israel Prize, in 1995, as well as a slew of other awards, including the Bialik Prize and the Jewish National Book Award, and whose work was translated into 28 languages.

Aside from his publications, Yehoshua was a leading figure in the Israeli peace camp, joining authors Amoz Oz and David Grossman in calling for a negotiated solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that would culminate in the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
According to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Yehoshua was “one of the great writers and storytellers of the state of Israel,” whose “unforgettable works will continue to accompany us for decades.”
