Fuel scarcity – The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) headquarters has been threatened with a picket by the Coalition of Transporters, which consists of several associations, including TOWAN (Tricycles Owners Association of Nigeria), NASTAN (National Association of Traders of Nigeria), COMAN (Commercial Motorcycles Association of Nigeria), MAWAN (Market Women Association of Nigeria), TADAN (Trailer Drivers Association of Nigeria), and LUBOU (Luxurious Bus Operators Union). The Chairman of TADAN, Jamilu Mai Alheri, signed the communique along with five other leaders. The associations have warned that they will occupy the NNPCL Towers in Abuja until the fuel scarcity issue is resolved, and have put their members nationwide on alert to join the protest if necessary. They also threatened to not make their vehicles available for INEC’s election materials. The communique stated that the persistent fuel shortage has caused a negative impact on their daily income and forced many of their members to abandon their vehicles. The price of fuel at government-recognized filling stations, ranging from N350 to N400 per liter, was deemed unacceptable by the unions.
