Departure from Rooster Teeth
Ryan Haywood: What happened to him? On October 6, 2020, he quit Rooster Teeth following several allegations of sexual assault. The company released a statement the next day, on October 7, alleging that they had fired him for violating the firm’s code of conduct.
What actions by Ryan Haywood led to his termination? An unknown woman had come forward around the time Ryan left, claiming that she had been having a sexual relationship with the voice actor since she was seventeen years old. The situation was then brought to a higher level by a Reddit member who compiled a spreadsheet listing other accusations made against Ryan.
A couple of the allegations date back to 2004, but the majority were made between 2016 and 2019. One of the victims described Ryan as a cunning predator who frequently used power relationships to ask underage girls for sexual favors.
After the accusations, Ryan from Rooster Teeth acknowledged his shortcomings but refrained from going into further detail. On October 6, 2020, he claimed to have accepted full responsibility for his deeds in a tweet. He claimed that the threats and humiliations were making life difficult for his family.
Here is an excerpt of his statement.
I made mistakes, thus I’m quitting RT to put my efforts on reestablishing my family and my life. If I’ve hurt someone, I apologize. I do want to state unequivocally that I have never committed any crimes. Please quit bothering and frightening my family; I have to face with the repercussions of my conduct.
Numerous employees of Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth moved to distance themselves from Ryan’s tarnished reputation after these discoveries. After the Red vs. Blue project’s release was postponed so that Haywood’s dialogue for the series could be re-recorded, the problem got worse.
Despite admitting that it would be difficult, Achievement Hunter co-founders Michael Jones and Jack Pattillo also swore to erase any traces of the YouTube personality.
