Eventually, they relocated to Dunedin, also in Florida. Ron has a sister named Christina Desantis, and he is of American birth with Italian ancestry. At the age of 19 in 1997, he joined the Dunedin National Little League team and participated in the Little League World Series held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

He completed Naval Justice School in 2005 and was assigned to be a prosecutor at Naval Station Mayport in Florida, where he received a promotion to Lieutenant. After working in different offices, he eventually decided to enter politics.

Ron entered the Republican primary for Florida’s 6th congressional district in 2012 and won with 39% of the vote, defeating Fred Costello who received 23%. He also won the general election in November of the same year with 57% of the vote, beating Democratic nominee Heather Beaven, and received majorities in all four counties.
