Hunter Doohan, an Australian actor and author, was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in the United States on January 19, 1994.

He was conceived by Angie Harper Carmichael, a weight management counselor at Metabolic Research Centre, and Peter Doohan, an ATP Tour tennis professional and coach. Doohan and his older brother John Doohan of the Ozark Tennis Academy have the same parents.

He began performing at a neighborhood community theater, where he primarily worked up until his high school graduation. After completing his degree, he moved to Los Angeles.

Instead of spending the summer in Los Angeles working as an intern for casting director Elizabeth Barnes, he chose to forego pursuing a BFA in theater at Oklahoma City University.

He then decided to take a break from studying in order to find a manager for himself. For the next four years, he did his regular jobs while also signing up for acting classes and a two-year program in Santa Monica.
