Who is the grand marshal for the Indy 500 this year?
Indy 500 – The 106th Indianapolis 500 presented by Bainbridge will be held on Sunday, May 29 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Blake Shelton, country music superstar and coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” will be the grand marshal.
Shelton will walk the Indy 500 red carpet as grand marshal and give the traditional instruction to drivers to report to their cars during the ceremonial pre-race festivities.
IMS President J. Douglas Boles said, “Blake is a country music powerhouse and a tremendous friend to all motorsports fans.” “His winning excitement will be a fantastic addition to the intensity of ‘The Greatest Spectacle of Racing,’ for both fans at the track and viewers on NBC.”

Shelton is in the Racing Capital of the World as a guest of NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Jimmie Johnson. Johnson collaborated with Blake Shelton on the design of his helmet.
Shelton was in attendance at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas on May 22 for the NASCAR All-Star Race’s pre-race activities. The “Austin” vocalist was given the honor of signaling the automobiles to start their engines.
