Who Was Christopher Hitchens?

Born in Portsmouth in 1949, Christopher Hitchens is a British-American novelist, journalist, and literary critic.

Hitchens had authored more than 30 volumes, including five collections of essays that were all focused on literature, politics, and culture.

He belonged to various socialist organizations during his career and was known as a democratic socialist and a Marxist.

Despite being a vocal opponent of American foreign policy, Hitchens supported the administration during military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo.

After a battle with cancer, Hitchens passed away in Houston, Texas, in the United States on December 15, 2011. His age was 62.
