Marnie Schulenburg was born in the United States on May 21, 1984, in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Gus Schulenburg, a dramatist, and Allan Schulenburg, a music instructor, were her two brothers.

Marnie Schulenburg attended the Cape Cod Conservatory for dance and singing lessons after graduating from Barnstable High School in 2002. In May 2006, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theatre from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.
In September 2006, Marnie Schulenburg moved to New York City and began auditioning for acting opportunities. She became a member of the Dramatists Guild of America after starring as Alison Stewart in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her performance.
