Esteban Torres Cause Of Death – Esteban Torres, a California Democrat who served eight terms in the House of Representatives and left a history of public service centered on increasing Latino representation, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the age of 91.

Various congressional subcommittees, including Finance and Urban Affairs and Banking and Small Business, were chaired by Esteban Torres.

Esteban Torres also served as the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and was named deputy whip by Democratic leaders.

Esteban Torres was instrumental in the passage of significant legislation such as the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which granted legal status to over 3 million immigrants.

Esteban Torres died of natural causes on Jan. 25, two days before his 92nd birthday, according to a statement released by his family.

From 1983 until 1999, Esteban Torres served in Congress, representing the San Gabriel Valley and Whittier area, and was a member of a class of Congress that more than doubled Latino representation.

Esteban Torres was an activist in his United Auto Workers (UAW) Union chapter prior to entering politics, subsequently serving as the UAW’s international representative in Washington from 1964 to 1968.
