Following outcry over posts published on a now–deactivated Facebook account, Jennie Nguyen was fired.

According to the statement, “Bravo has discontinued filming with Jennie Nguyen, and she will no longer be a cast member of ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.’”

“We acknowledge that once her inflammatory social media posts were brought to our attention, we failed to take proper action,” the statement added.

The now-deleted photographs and memes were posted in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and during the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, according to Page Six, and the posts referred to demonstrators as thugs and rioters. What was it about Jennie Nguyen’s remark that got her fired?

Jennie Nguyen apologized for the comments in an Instagram post.

The following was written in Jennie Nguyen’s apology:

“I’d want to apologize and acknowledge the resurfacing of my deleted Facebook posts from 2020.” I thought I was speaking out against violence at the time, but I’ve subsequently realized how hurtful and insulting my remarks were,” she wrote. “It’s why I cancelled that account over a year ago and why I’m still trying to learn about other people’s opinions.” I regret those posts and apologize profusely for the distress they caused.”
