Who was the first Dominican NBA player – Tito Horford was the NBA’s first Dominican player. Alfredo William “Tito” Horford is a former professional basketball player from the Dominican Republic who was picked by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (39th overall) of the 1988 NBA draft.
Horford played three NBA seasons, two for the Milwaukee Bucks (1988–1990) and one for the Washington Bullets (1993–94). He performed in Spain in 1992. He was on the Bucks’ roster in the summer of 1992.

Tito was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic, and graduated from Houston’s Marian Christian High School in 1989. Tito’s father is a Bahamas native. After retiring from basketball, he relocated to Lansing, Michigan.
His son, Al Horford, was a crucial player of the University of Florida Gators’ national championship teams in 2006 and 2007. He was taken third overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, and he went on to be a five-time All-Star during his career.
