Chrissy Teigen, the model, apologized for her “previous bad comments” in a lengthy statement made to Medium and reposted to her social media accounts on Monday.
Courtney Stodden, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, revealed harsh tweets and direct messages they received from Teigen when they were still a teenager in an article published by The Daily Beast, and Teigen appeared to take a social media hiatus in early May.
In Monday’s post, Teigen apologized for referring to herself as a troll.
“Words have consequences, and the Twitter handles I went after are actual people,” she wrote. “I wasn’t simply hurting some random avatar; I was hurting young ladies with feelings, some of whom were still girls. I couldn’t help but think about it.”
Teigen claimed she continued sending vulgar tweets at celebrities because she thought it “made me cool” and she was ready to join a “pop culture pile-on,” believing she was making harmless jokes.
“Why did I believe there was some unseen psycho-celebrity formula that prevented anyone with a large following from suffering? How could I have been so blind to the fact that my remarks were cruel? What gives me the authority to say things like this? “she penned
Stodden, who married Doug Hutchison, a 51-year-old acting coach, when she was 16, said Teigen sent them messages instructing them to “have a dirt nap” in a May interview published by The Daily Beast.
“She wouldn’t just openly tweet that she wanted me to take a ‘dirt nap,’ but she’d privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” Stodden explained. “Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die,’” says the narrator.

According to People, Stodden previously stated that they forgiven Teigen and accepted a past apology, but that they had not been privately contacted by the model.
Teigen stated in her article that she was not asking for forgiveness, but rather “patience and tolerance.” “We are all more than our worst moments,” she added.
“If you are open and eager to take it, I have so much love to give. It’s also fine if you don’t. Every day, I concentrate on being more comfortable with that. I know I disappointed you, but I hope I can make you proud again “she penned
