After his sophomore year, Trevon Diggs transferred to The Avalon School in Wheaton, Maryland, to continue playing football under Tyree Spinner. Trevon Diggs had previously attended Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland. In high school, Trevon Diggs split his time between wide receiver and defensive back, finishing his junior year with 78 receptions for 1,008 yards and 15 touchdowns. Metro team, committed to play collegiate football for the University of Alabama.

As a true freshman at Alabama in 2016, Trevon Diggs played safety, wide receiver and was a return specialist, and he finished the year with five tackles and one forced fumble on defense, 11 receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown on offense and had 296 total return yards on special teams.

As a senior in 2019, Trevon Diggs started 12 games, while registering 37 tackles, 3 interceptions (tied for second on the team), 8 passes defensed (tied for the team lead) and 2 fumble recoveries, including a 100-yard touchdown return. Trevon Diggs returned an interception for an 84-yard touchdown, recovered 2 two fumbles (one for a touchdown) and had 100-plus combined return yards against the University of Arkansas. Trevon Diggs had a career-high 10 tackles against Louisiana State University.
