Lauren Bernett Obituary: What Happened To Lauren Bernett? – James Madison University

Lauren Bernett, a softball player at James Madison University, died on Tuesday, according to the school (April 26, 2022).

Lauren Bernett was only 20 years old when she was killed.

James Madison University issued the following statement:

“College athletics is fantastic because of the people we get to deal with on a daily basis.” We are a close-knit family. Lauren has been an important member of our JMU Athletics community, and we will always consider her a Duke. “She will be sorely missed.”

There was no mention of a cause of death.

Lauren Bernett, a sophomore catcher from McDonald, Pennsylvania, was an important part of James Madison’s run to the 2021 Women’s College World Series last season.

Before losing back-to-back games against the Sooners in the semifinals, the Dukes defeated top-ranked and eventual champion Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Lauren Bernett hit.336 this season with nine home runs and 33 RBI, including the school’s single-game RBI record of seven versus College of Charleston on April 16.

Lauren Bernett was selected Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week yesterday after the Dukes swept Drexel in a three-game series.

Lauren Bernett hit.778 in the series, driving in seven runs.
