Early in June 1980, Deloplaine signed with the Toronto Argonatus of the Canadian Football League after NFL organizations believed him to have retired in error.
In January 1984, he also signed with the newly formed Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League, but he left the team at the end of the month, just before the 1984 season began.
