Veteran actor and comedian Prince Yawson, often known as Waakye, was from Ghana.
The 52-year-old actor battled a condition (reportedly a stroke) for years before passing away early on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the 37 Military Hospital, according to reports.
Waakye is well recognized for his performances in the early 2000s films Obra, Diabolo, and other films.

His most recent film role was in the Ghanaian comedy series Chorkor Trotro, which was broadcast on TV3.
The veteran actor was reportedly left bedridden after he got a mild stroke since 2013, which explained his disappearance from our TV screens, unlike times past when he served Ghanaian TV screens with unadulterated talent and unlimited entertainment.
However, in 2017, four years later after reports of him being struck with stroke, he made the headlines after he testified of God’s goodness and how he was saved from the icy hands of death.
On April 25, 2021, three years after testifying of God’s goodness, he was ordained as a man of God at a ceremony at the Word Impact Centre in Accra.
There’s no information regarding his marital status. However, he is survived by two beautiful daughters.
