Mark Shields Obituary – Mark Shields is a political commentator and columnist in the United States. He is best known as the PBS Newshour’s weekly political analyst and commentator. Mark Shields has also covered the last 12 presidential elections.
Shields was born on May 25, 1937, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He grew up in a Catholic Irish home. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1959.

Shields died of kidney failure in his Chevy Chase, Maryland, home. Shields provided scholarly insights about the administrations of six US presidents, as well as the Persian Gulf War, the Iran Contra crisis, and 9/11, before retiring in 2020. He was 85 years old at the time.
Shields was noted for his witty sense of humour as well as his in-depth understanding of American politics. In a tweet announcing his death, Judy Woodruff, the anchor and managing editor of Newshour, remarked.
