Georg von Trapp Children: Did Maria von Trapp and the captain have any children of their own?
Georg von Trapp Children – The Trapp Family Singers’ stepmother was Maria Augusta von Trapp DHS. She wrote The Trapp Family Singers in 1949, which was adapted into the 1956 West German film The Trapp Family, which was transformed into the 1959 Broadway musical and its 1965 film adaption The Sound of Music.

Maria was asked to teach one of the seven children of widowed naval officer Georg von Trapp in 1926, while still teaching at the abbey. Maria subsequently started looking after the other kids as well.

Captain von Trapp, who was 25 years her senior, asked Maria to marry him after noticing how much she cared about his children. She returned to Nonnberg Abbey, afraid, to seek guidance from the mother abbess, who advised her to marry him because it was God’s will. After that, she returned to her family and accepted the proposal.
